#11 Kreayshawn - Breakfast
Love her or hate her, Natassia Zolot’s about to blow up. Hard. Album’s dropping soon, and it’s worth having a listen to just so you can say you have (even - hell, especially if you don’t like it. More cred and all that jazz).
#10 - Ellie Goulding’s cover of The Weeknd’s ‘High For This’. I’m not sure whether I’ll count this as introducing the former or the latter. Hell, let’s just go for both. And check this one out while you’re at it, it’s my fav by the RnB whiz.

Number 9! Fett’s Vette by MC Chris.
This nerdcore master churns out tracks like a phat beast, despite the fact that his voice is higher-pitched than that of my little sister’s. I know I’m totally cheating by putting an old track up here, but this is just soooo goooood. Plus there’s a new album in the works for a end-of-year release, so give that a go when it comes out!
Oh, and nerdcore rap is like gangsta rap, but instead of bitches, monies and hoes it’s female warlocks, galactic credits and tavern wenches. Which is totally different, right?
Track #8. Bubblegum Bitch by Marina and the Diamonds.
Flavour text: Marina is awesome. Go listen. Now.
Here we go again!
Number 7’s the new track from Metric, entitled Speed The Collapse. It’s been about three years since the last release, and here’s this song ahead of schedule! Synthetica will be out on June 12th, but here we are and you’re welcome.
And for Metric in a nutshell: fantastically well-crafted Indie/New Wave with haunting vocals (in a good way) provided by Emily Haines, who’s also a part of the legendary post-rock amalgam Broken Social Scene. That’s enough of a hook, right? Now bite.
#5! Eric Calderone aka Erock is one of those YouTube sensations, and I daresay he’s worth the hype. He’s been gaining some notable traction for rranging all sorts of modern tracks into metal adaptations - and I mean all sorts: everything from the My Little Pony theme to Skrillex tracks, recreated with blasting drumbeats and some gnarly shredding.
Plus that ridiculously cute smile he’s always got on just makes everything that bit more delightful. Chickety-check it out!
Track no. 4! So yeah I’m kinda terrible at keeping to a schedule, but I’ll distract you with good music so let’s forget all about that.
You can kinda tell that Math the Band are just out to have one hell of a good time. They’ve had a couple of cases of ‘oh my god that’s so bad it’s good’ in their heyday, but the shit they’re churning out now maintains the up-and-at-‘em hyperactive positivity of a raw, fresh band - now all whilst developing some notable songwriting structure and melodic finesse.
And while you’re at it, this song is amazingly fun too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql2_kf8t3JI (not official video)
Round 3!
Apologies my friends for missing last night - but I did happen to catch these guys in the process. And fuck me, Spring Break are hilarious. With catchy singalong tunes over classic 80s synth sounds, these guys are like karaoke done right.
Plus they’re the type of band that gets everybody to hug after their set, and that’s a-o-great by me.
Round 2!
On my journeys to find something sounding a little Foals-esque, I stumbled upon this delightful quartet purely by chance. Maps and Atlases somehow manage to be hip enough to show off to your friends, and at the same time are pleasant enough to bring home to your mother.
I mean, just look at Dave Davison (and his hair - all of it). He must be a wizard. How else could you explain them mad skillz yo?
